Ready for Houston

In five days, I'll be running in the Houston Marathon. As usual, I'll be carrying a cell phone with me so that I can post real-time updates to this blog. I'll probably make an update every two miles or so.

There's also a tracking option offered by the organizers of the event, and that's at this page. I have no idea how frequently these updates will occur, but this option can automatically send information to an e-mail address, cell phone, or pager.

I've made another colorful pace chart for all to enjoy. The red pace would put we across the line about three minutes slower than Seattle, but all of the other colors are improvements. We'll see how it goes!

Comments on any of the posts are welcome. If you're not sure how to read the real-time posts, check the September Archives. Thanks for your support!

Ben in Tights

The weather has been in the 30s most of this week, so I'm perfectly comfortable going outside for a run! Click on the picture for a better view of me dressed to stay warm!

Count me in!

I have just signed up for the Houston Marathon on January 15. I had eight weeks between Milwaukee and Seattle, and I have seven weeks between Seattle and Houston. The fun never ends. :)

Seattle Fun Facts

Here's a graph of all of my 20+ mile runs. The Seattle run is in red:

Here's some more fun facts from Seattle:
  • Average Pace: 9:53/mile
  • First half: 2:10:58   Second half: 2:08:15
  • Fastest Mile: #19 (9:20)   Slowest Mile: #10 #26 (tie) (10:15)
  • I compared my Seattle run to my Milwaukee run. "Milwaukee Ben" was leading "Seattle Ben" by 1.2 miles at the 14-mile mark. However, "Seattle Ben"'s consistency paid major dividends in the end -- when he was done, "Milwaukee Ben" had about two miles left to run!
I am continuing to run on a regular basis, and I just might run Houston in mid-January. I had eight weeks between Milwaukee and Seattle, but there are only seven weeks between Seattle and Houston. I recovered fairly quickly from Seattle, and I feel great when I'm running, so I'll keep training until my body tells me otherwise.
